It's a well-known fact that when a guitarist is asked “What is the best acoustic guitar ever?” there is a very strong chance that the reply will be one of the iconic Martin models.
This is a company that epitomizes fine six-strings and we recently had a chance to take their 000-15M model out for a little spin. Check out our full Martin guitar review below.
What we are looking at here is an all-mahogany giant, meaning that the body is all mahogany, as well as the neck. Such an approach combines durability and stability on one side, while delivering copious amounts of natural resonance and warmth on the other.
We have to give the company some massive kudos here, they really combined not just top-quality components, but also delivered some impeccable craftsmanship, resulting in pretty much the best bang for the buck and one of the finest guitar bodies the market has to offer these days. A major thumbs up for this, an easy 5 outta 5 from us.
Although the neck is sturdy, it's still highly playable and easy on the player's hands. The fingerboard is a wide rosewood piece with 20 frets and a pack of white dot markers.
The instrument utilizes a rosewood bridge, a small and elegant pick-guard, an elegant rosette, and a pack of die-cast tuners. The 000-15M is capable of maintaining the tuning over extended periods of time.
These components are there to make sure that the instrument maintains proper intonation and tuning over extended periods of time and do their job quite nicely. Note that the price also includes a hard-shell Martin case.
The tone of the instrument is just warm and mellow with rather expressive low-end frequencies, which is a vital feature for high-end acoustics. However, the mix is also twang-driven and bright enough to match the classic vibe of the Delta blues style, but nowhere as grind-driven as some of the resonator guitar models.
Due to this ability to express a variety of musical vibes, including crispy clean clears, warm basses and gritty punches, the six-string is perfectly suitable for a vast array of genres and styles.
It can be argued that it's the blues where this Martin is at home, but you can really take it anywhere. Good stuff; very good stuff actually!
This is a high-end guitar and although such instruments are matched with appropriate high-end prices, this fella is reasonably priced and easily falls among our top picks for the best acoustic guitars under 1500 dollars.
In general, it's even safe to say that regardless of your exact musical taste, this is a guitar that will suit your needs to a tee. Feel free to check it out some more, but if you're after a good acoustic model within this price range, the 000-15M is simply a choice you cannot regret purchasing. Thumbs up!

000-15m is a brilliant guitar. Brilliant. Especially for fingerpicking. Had mine for the last 12 months after living with a D-28 for 20 years. Sold the D-28 to raise some cash and would never go back. If you die having never owned a 000-15 you may have lived your life in vain…

I also had a D-28 for many years but my 000-15m which I’ve had for nearly two years beats the Dreadnought into oblivion for fingerpicking. If I wasn’t already married I would marry my 000-15. Do whatever you must but get a 000-15m – owning this guitar gives a meaning to existence…
