The G6128T Power Jet expands upon the classic Duo Jet guitars which has been a favorite of many blues and rock aficionados since the early 50’s. This latest rendition is enhanced to cater to the modern player’s needs, improving upon versatility in addition to an overflowing amount of special features. This remarkable work of art is one of the most accomplished gits on today’s market.
This classic sports the all familiar Jet shaped mahagony body with an arched laminated maple top and a strikingly gorgeous gloss urethane finish. The mahagony one-piece neck comes on a scale of 24.6” and hosts the ebony fingerboard. It is equipped with 22 medium jumbo frets and “Neo Classic Thumbnail” inlays on a 12” radius. This masterpiece is completed at the top by its bound matching headstock, featuring a pearloid logo indicating the brand name.
When you take even a slight glance at a gitbox of this caliber, you can’t help but expect truly the best of the best in terms of hardware quality. When it comes to that, Gretsch delivers as expected with hi-end chrome-plated components. The headstock packs six “Deluxe Sperzel” locking tuning machines. The bridge slot hosts a pinned rosewood-based adjusto-matic system and a Bigsby BC3 vibrato tailpiece, offering unmatched tonal precision.
The electronics uphold the Dual Jet tradition of quality, capable of emulating the sounds which made the original release famous, however deeply enhanced to fit in a modern setup with its tonal variety. The pickup configuration presents two “TV Jones Power’Tron” humbucking pickups; near the bridge and neck. They are naturally complemented by individual Volume controls, a five-way toggle switch and a Master Volume control knob.
If you previously loved its style but you weren’t satisfied by its limited tonal variety, the G6128T tips the scales by offering everything that lacked in its previous releases. You can now lead at the frontlines by emulating any style that comes to mind.
Its immaculate design work offers fantastic creamy sustain, while its neck is designed to offer carefree performances with easy accessibility all along the fingerboard. When you combine its humbuckers it feels like you fused it with a Les Paul, outputting beautiful sounds which go way beyond words.
I rarely claim this with absolute certainty, but if you’re looking to spend this much money, this masterpiece is undoubtedly my first recommendation. It’s an aesthetical wonder which feels and sounds amazing in your hands.
