The JEMV7 comes to fruition by fusing Ibanez’ and Steve Vai’s combined efforts and expertise, resulting in a state of the art instrument that is the equivalent of Mount Everest in the guitar universe. As soon as Steve Vai’s influence transcended over to marketing specialized axes carrying his name (1987), they swiftly conquered the market, and they have remained ahead of the curve to this day.
The instrument upholds the same values that made it famous, sporting the usual elegant design. However it is deeply enhanced to perfectly match the needs of today’s player.
This masterpiece’s body is made of alder, in charge of delivering familiar vintage tones. The bolt-on maple neck’s construction ensures swift bass/treble response, and it comes on a scale of 25 ½ inches. The rosewood fingerboard is equipped with 24 jumbo frets and beautiful vine inlays.
The hardware and electronics are where it gets real with this bad boy. It packs a wide array of groundbreaking components, covering every perceptible angle in sound and playability.
This stylish jewel is rounded off by its fitting headstock rigged with six gold Grover tuning machines, offering stable precise intonation. The axe allows for carefree string bending and swift low to high gain dives enabled by is recessed Edge Pro tremolo bridge system.
The pickup combination offers limitless tonal capabilities, presenting a Dimarzio Custom single-coil in the middle, and Dimarzio Evolution humbuckers at the bridge and neck. A natural inclusion is the five-way pickup selector switch, as well as two control knobs meant for Volume and Tone refinement.
This indomitable axe presents a limitless array of tones at your disposal through its single-coil pickup paired up between two nasty humbuckers, they provide the sound, while the rest of the git maintains it with remarkable smooth sustain. The actual sound quality coming out of this axe is truly inspiring, a guitarist never stops improving and learning, and this masterpiece makes that process all the more enjoyable.
The neck pickup is crisp and punchy, while the bridge pickup strives toward biting aggression – fantastic for standout lead performances. The single-coil does what it’s supposed to, I would need to offer a more general explanation in order to describe it, and that’s not my purpose here. Mix and matching offers magnificent resonance resulting in gorgeous overtones giving a harmonic feel to your sound.
The JEM7V goes all out, packing everything Ibanez has to offer. Swift, deadly, impactful. Well worth its price beyond a shadow of a doubt.
