This boomy marvel box takes part in Martin’s Performing Artist series. It is an all-around beast of an instrument that is best suited for those of you who prefer the live stage setting. The Grand Performance body enables a vast stage presence through its big and chunky tones – seeking attention and deservedly getting it, while the electronics packed inside naturally enhance it.
The GPCPA5K is actually the most affordable of their PA series, a fact speaking a lot of the manufacturers’ qualities – which you must be very familiar with by now. Words can only reassure you of their expertise, while the sound is the main culprit responsible for writing the headlines.
The instrument’s body is comprised of a solid Sitka spruce top ensuring a vast, balanced tonal projection. The sides and back are made of exclusive, environment-friendly HPL Koa wood. The body is held together by the identical Hybrid X bracing pattern found in the brand’s flagship models.
The neck is made of brown Stratabond, sporting a low profile for extreme playability. The neck accommodates the black Richlite fingerboard – rigged with 20 frets and white dot inlays. The impressive white corian nut is 1.75” wide, while the instrument holds a total scale of 25.4”.
The masterful components on this work of art continue in the same manner – speaking an equally enchanting tale of quality.
The instrument is topped off by its gorgeous headstock – coming equipped with six chrome enclosed tuning machines. The git’s intonation is further endorsed by the black Richlite bridge system sitting atop a white Tusq saddle.
The electronics are in charge of this marvel’s outstanding presence. The guitar packs a Fishman F1 Analog electronics system – ensuring studio sound quality, deeply enhancing your tones on stage performances.
This PAK5 is not quite your average dreadnought-y tonal monster, the Grand Performance shape has stunning volume potential. However it does strive towards midrange-y tones much more. In fact, the more you go lower on the tonal scale, the more you will get a feel of the authentic Martin sound vibe.
The onboard EQ assuredly takes this masterpiece to the next level, with unique controls it provides dynamic sound enrichment with an equivalent balance between the bass and treble sides. You will certainly feel right at home with this mighty gitbox in your hands.
This beastly performer may have cost twice as much in the not do distant past. However, times change, sometimes for good or worse, but this time it certainly is for the good of us all. If you are willing to spend a significant sum of money on an instrument of this caliber, there’s seldom a better choice than this Martin six-string wonder.
