When we searched the market to find the best volume pedal for guitars, we have to admit that we encountered a whole lot of cheap items that are simply poor quality. Sure, they're cheap, but they're so prone to damage or producing low-quality sound that they're simply not worth it.

Well, the Quick Lok VP-2622 is one of the quite few items of the low price range that makes the difference and offers a bonafide solid performance at a very affordable price tag. It just might be the best cheap guitar volume pedal around. We took it our for a test run, make sure to check out our impressions in the full review below.

Features

The device is tucked inside a heavy-duty plastic casing combined with a metal base to keep it stable. Strangely enough, we are dealing with an actual stereo device here, which is odd because most high-end pedals of this niche aren't stereo, let alone a budget-friendly option such as this one! Anyhow, the stereo approach allows the user to plug two instruments simultaneously on one side, as well as use stereo rigs on the output side. This means that you get a pair of 1/4-inch (6.3 mm) plugs on both sides.

Apart from that, the product utilizes a high-performance custom potentiometer that secures a longer life, as well as an external potentiometer that allows manual sensitivity adjustments.

When it comes to durability, the item is surprisingly sturdy and will serve you well for a while as long as you don't stomp it too hard. The metal base is strong and reliable, and the pedal itself is alright, but once again – do not stomp maniacally! The product weighs in at 1.2 pounds and features a total size of 9.2 x 2.8 x 3.9 inches.

Controls

As is often the case with volume pedals, there's not exactly a whole lot of controls here. There's not a single adjustment knob to be found, and the pedal itself is the only control you get. It's smooth enough, and while it can get a bit worn out and loose after a while, it's just fine for the listed price. Overall, the pedal can control two types of instruments – guitars and keyboards. Note that the Minimum Volume feature – or the knob that adjusts the volume level when the pedal is set to the lowest level – is not included in the mix.

Performance

When compared to high-end models, the pedal feels a bit more stiff and less customizable, and users have reported that the device gets worn out and a bit loose after a while, it still offers a solid performance that we can give a strong thumbs up considering the price tag. Additionally, you can use the stereo functionality and do some fun stuff, which is something even a pricey Boss pedal can't do! Overall, we are pleased.

Value/Conclusion

The Quick Lok VP-2622 is not an amazing item in terms of performance, controls or stellar features, but it is an amazing item in terms of price and value for money. It offers a great band for the buck, summing up the essential features of a volume pedal in a convenient, solid package at a price three times lower than many of its peers. The best cheap volume pedal? It just might be, yes!
